Oak terrace boards are distinguished by exceptional density, hardness, and natural resistance to environmental impact. This is a classic, long-lasting hardwood species, valued for its mechanical strength and stability. Smooth surface finish on both sides emphasizes the solid wood texture and gives the terrace a modern, aesthetic appearance. Oak is one of the most stable local hardwood species, which only gets stronger over time. AB quality grade ensures a balanced appearance with natural wood grain patterns.
Oak wood has a characteristic light brown or yellowish shade with prominent texture. Exposed to direct sunlight and moisture, unoiled oak boards naturally patinate – acquiring a noble gray (silvery) shade, while maintaining their structural integrity.
Supervision
To maintain the original color and protect the wood from UV radiation, it’s recommended to oil the terrace once a year with special WOCA oil with pigment. If you want to let the wood naturally gray, you can use clear WOCA natural oil, which will protect the board from moisture absorption but won’t prevent color change.
Oak is water-resistant and has high resistance to insect damage and fungi. Oak terrace boards don’t require much maintenance, making them perfect for outdoor work.
Mounting
When working with oak, it’s essential to follow installation rules specific to hardwood:

Drilling: Before driving screws, holes must be pre-drilled to avoid wood splitting.

Fasteners: Use only high-quality stainless steel (A2 or A4) screws (Fastshifter, CAMO). Oak contains many tannins, which react when in contact with regular metal and leave black, hard-to-remove stains.

Construction: Recommended distance between joist centers is 40–50 cm. Boards should be installed with 5–7 mm gaps for ventilation.
