Oil for terrace frame

Oil for the terrace frame is used to protect it. How best to do this, what products and tools to use – we will review in this article.
MDS terraces continue the cycle of experimental activities. This time we tested the oil on the terrace frame and its effect on water repellency. It doesn’t matter what wood the terrace frame is made of, it needs to be protected from soaking and moisture, because it is an ideal environment for rodents and molds that “eat” the wood.
The course of experimental activities
We cut the pine tree into small pieces. We measured their humidity with a hygrometer.
We smeared all sides of the wooden pieces with different means.
We used these products
Oxol
It is used for impregnation and priming of wood products, as well as for diluting oil paints, varnishes and putty. Lithuanian manufacturer.
Primer for wood
A tool widely used in Scandinavia – wood is not painted without first being covered with this type of primer . Swedish manufacturer.
Dekksol
Oil for wood impregnation and renovation and coating of wooden boats. Norwegian manufacturer.
Chinese oil
It is used for frame protection or final coating of boards. Swedish manufacturer.
Natural oil
Used for impregnation of wood products. Lithuanian manufacturer.
After preparing, marking and oiling a piece of tasha for testing, we screwed them to one board for stability. We “dried” outside for a good month while it’s still damp and cold outside.
We saw the first results in May. As the weather warmed, the humidity in all pieces of wood decreased almost equally – we found ~14 percent with a hygrometer at the beginning of May. humidity.
We will see the most important features of the experimental activity later in the fall – then the wood will absorb moisture again. We will observe which of the pieces of wood will be “attacked” by the mushrooms first. We will describe the final conclusions after receiving the results!
