Installation of a terrace in the old town of Vilnius

Terrace sets are one of the most popular products sold by MDS teras. We help to calculate the required amount of materials according to individual needs and complete the products for the installation of the terrace in such a way that it is as easy as possible for customers to install the terrace on their own. This is exactly what Mantas from Vilnius did. In just one and a half days, the client of MDS terasos, Mantas, installed the frame of the outdoor terrace with his own hands. We are glad that the happy customer shared not only a review of the purchased materials, but also a detailed description of the work he did himself.

Description of the works performed by Mantos, a client of “MDS terrasos”, during the installation of the terrace frame

After purchasing terrace accessories and 4-meter-long larch wood boards from MDS terrasos, everything was quickly assembled and quickly delivered directly to the house. Since our outdoor patio is on the second floor, we placed the boards in the first floor patio and covered it. The dimensions of the terrace are 4m x 5.8m with drainage along the length, so the 5.6m aluminum lags purchased were just right.

On Friday, I laid out 7 lages on the terrace floor, then drew, counted the gaps so that there were as few scraps as possible. I compensated for the missing gaps of 20 cm in length by attaching metal corners to the front and back, so there were small gaps between the wall and the frame. It turned out a large rectangular frame along the edges of the terrace.

Late Saturday morning, I continued my work. After counting the equal spaces and screwing in the remaining 5 lags with metal corners, there were 6 spaces. To make the frame stronger, it was necessary to strengthen the long lags with crossbars. For this purpose, there was one 5.6 meter lag and two remnants from the short sides of the frame. From all the leftovers, an 80 cm crossbar for the door with two 12 cm crossbars and 15 pieces came out. crossbars scattered throughout the frame. I attached the crossbars with the same metal corners with self-tapping screws supplied by “MDS terrasos”. The frame turned out to be strong enough.

After that, I laid out the rubber pedestals-supports. Since there is a water drain on the terrace, even three-high pedestals were needed. The lowest ones were used in the edges. Further – higher and in the middle – the highest. I put rubber soles under all the pedestals. Total 35 pcs. After placing them evenly, I screwed the pedestals with the same self-tapping screws, but their heads were too small, so I had to use washers.

At the end of the day, the installation of the terrace frame was completed. On Sunday morning, I applied the adhesive roof protection and will install the boards in the near future.

I did the work alone. With coffee breaks and “not going over my head”. It took me 1.5 days in total.

Apart from the stainless steel Camo screws, which come in 350 pieces, there is not a single part left unused. I even assembled the last crosspiece from several scrap parts and it matched so that the dimension corresponded to the millimeter accuracy.

I don’t know if I did everything right, but the terrace frame managed to be strong enough and it was fun to do this work myself.
